ROOM LAURA DAVENPORT WITH THE TETON COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT FINANCE DEPARTMENT.

THIS REPORT WE'RE LOOKING AT IS FOR THE END OF MARCH.

YOU WILL SEE THE ONE THAT'S SHOWING IS ACTUALLY FISCAL YEAR '25.

IF YOU COULD GO FISCAL YEAR '24, IT MIGHT NOT BE ON THERE.

BASICALLY FOR FISCAL YEAR '24, WE STILL HAVE A BALANCE THAT'S LEFTOVER THAT'S OUTSTANDING, WHICH IS PART OF THE TCSD-FUNDED GRANT FOR THE FACILITIES.

WE WILL HAVE THAT PAID OUT BY THE END OF THE YEAR. WE'RE ALMOST THERE.

WE'LL PROBABLY BE PAID OUT WITH ALL THE CURRENT YEAR GRANTS BY MAY, ESPECIALLY WITH MAY'S MAIL LEVY COMES IN HIGHER WITH

THE SECOND TAX PAYMENT DUE DATE FOR THE COUNTY.

THAT IS FISCAL YEAR '24 WHICH BASICALLY IS ESTIMATING THAT YOU WILL END THE YEAR WITH $916,129.90.

THAT WILL MOVE FORWARD TO FISCAL YEAR '25, WHICH WILL CHANGE THAT OPENING FUND BALANCE, GIVE OR TAKE INTEREST, AND ALL OF THAT FROM THE 775,335.32 TO THE OTHER NUMBER.

THAT NUMBER IS JUST THE BALANCE AS OF MARCH 31ST.

THAT IS A NUMBER THAT WILL CHANGE OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF THREE MONTHS.

THAT'LL HAVE SOME INTEREST THAT WILL BE INCLUDED IN THERE, AS WELL AS REVENUE FOR APRIL, MAY, AND JUNE.

THE FIRST ONE IS CONSIDERATION OF TCSD NUMBER 1 FISCAL YEAR '25 GRANT APPLICATION.

>> WE REVIEWED THIS APPLICATION WITH THE TCSD BOARD OF EDUCATION AT THEIR MARCH MEETING, I BELIEVE, ASKING FOR FEEDBACK.

THE ONLY CHANGES THAT WE'VE HAD SINCE THAT MEETING IS UNDER THE FACILITIES LINE.

WE HAD A CERTAIN NUMBER ALLOCATED TO POTENTIALLY PAVE THE PARKING LOT BY THE SYNTHETIC FIELDS, AND WE DECIDED TO RELOCATE SOME OF THOSE FUNDS FOR THE RENOVATION OF OUR ART ROOMS IN A CERAMIC STUDIO AND WHAT WAS THE CURRENT WELDING SHOP, FELT THAT THERE WAS BETTER USE TO ALLOCATE THOSE FUNDS.

I THINK THAT'S GOING TO BE A HIGHER PRICE TAG FOR THAT AND A MORE IMMEDIATE NEED FOR OUR STUDENTS THAN LEAVING THAT AREA.

SOME OF THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS, ALSO THE NUMBERS CHANGE SLIGHTLY JUST BASED ON UPDATED ENROLLMENTS FOR WINTER SPORTS PROGRAMMING.

COLTER ELEMENTARY AND JACKSON ELEMENTARY HAVE TWO DAYS A WEEK AFTER THE BELL PROGRAMMING ON WEDNESDAYS AND THURSDAYS, MUNGER MOUNTAIN ELEMENTARY, MONDAYS AND TUESDAYS, AND THEN ON THOSE OPPOSITE DAYS, THE DISTRICT PROVIDES ADDITIONAL SUPPORT TO TETON LITERACY CENTER AND THE CHILDREN'S MUSEUM FOR THEIR PROGRAMS SO THAT WE CAN INCREASE THE SIZE OF THE CAPACITY.

ALL YEAR LONG, THESE PROGRAMS HAVE RUN FOUR DAYS A WEEK IN TOTAL.

HERE AT PARKS AND REC, WE UNDERSTAND THAT EVERY CHILD IS DIFFERENT WITH DIFFERENT NEEDS.

OUR PROGRAMMING BUDGET AND OUTREACH, THEY ALL REFLECT THIS.

THIS REQUEST FOR FUNDS HELP US CONTINUE SUPPORT FOR THE K THROUGH FIVE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM AND TO KEEP THIS RESOURCE AFFORDABLE AND AVAILABLE.

WITH THESE FUNDS FOR OUR KID CLUB PROGRAM, WE AIM TO PROVIDE QUALITY PROGRAMMING, ACCESSIBILITY THROUGH LOWER FEES, NUTRITIOUS FOOD AND SNACK OPTIONS AND OPPORTUNITIES AND AFFORDABLE CHILDCARE THAT NORMALLY THESE FAMILIES WOULD NOT HAVE EQUAL ACCESS TO.

THIS YEAR, WE HAVE FORMED CONNECTIONS WITH THE FISH AND WILDLIFE SERVICE, WITH THE TETON SCIENCE SCHOOL AMERICORPS MEMBERS,

WITH THE PEP PARTNERS NATIONAL MUSEUM OF WILDLIFE ART, THE HOLE FOOD RESCUE, WYOMING STAR GAZING, AND A LOT MORE PARTNERS.

THEY HAVE REALLY HELPED US OFFER DIVERSE PROGRAMMING FOR OUR KIDS CLUB AFTER SCHOOL TO HELP THESE KIDS HAVE A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT DAYS EVERY DAY.

CURRENTLY, WE SERVE 55 PLUS, ALMOST 60 KIDS PER DAY AND WE ALWAYS GIVE THEM A SNACK OF FRUIT AND A VEGETABLE EVERY DAY.

FRIDAY IS THE DAY THAT WE GO INTO THE REC CENTER AND SWIM.

THIS IS A PLACE WHERE THEY CAN FEEL REALLY SAFE AND COMFORTABLE IN A BODY OF WATER IF THEY HAVEN'T HAD A LOT OF EXPERIENCE WITH THAT.

AT KIDS CLUB, WE REALLY AIM TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH AN OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN HOW TO SAFELY SPEND TIME IN OUR ENVIRONMENT HERE AND HAVE A SAFE SPACE AFTER SCHOOL.

WE'RE DOING A HISTORICAL NONFICTION WRITING CAMP.

PREVIOUSLY, JACKSON HOLE YOUTH BASKETBALL HAD BEEN SUPPORTING BASKETBALL FOR THE NUMBER OF CHILDREN IN THE COMMUNITY, AND WE HAVE BEEN PROVIDING SOME SUPPORT FOR THE HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETES PRIMARILY THROUGH SUPPORT OF THE PROGRAMS THAT WERE BEING RUN THROUGH THE HIGH SCHOOL OR IN SUPPORT OF OUR HIGH SCHOOL COACHES DOING PROGRAMS IN THE OFF SEASON.

WE'VE COME TO A POINT NOW WHERE WE WANTED TO FORMALIZE A CLUB THAT IS PART OF THE AAU AND PROVIDES HIGH SCHOOL LEVEL BASKETBALL FOR OUR BOYS AND GIRLS ATHLETES THAT IS SEPARATE FROM THE SCHOOL DISTRICT AND RUN IN THE OFF SEASON AS A CLUB.

WE ORGANIZED AS A 501C3 IN FEBRUARY OF THIS YEAR, WE ARE SEPARATE AND DISTINCT FROM JACKSON HOLE YOUTH BASKETBALL, WHICH RUNS THROUGH EIGHTH GRADE, AND NOW WE'RE WITH HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETES AND HAVE STARTED THIS SPRING WITH WHAT WE CALLED OUR SPRING TRAINING.

WE HAVE 17 BOYS AND 14 GIRLS IN THE PROGRAM, THAT IS, FRESHMAN, SOPHOMORE, AND JUNIORS WHO WILL BE OUR RISING ATHLETES INTO THE NEXT YEAR, AND THEN THE EIGHTH GRADE, WILL BE RISING NINTH GRADERS, WILL JOIN IN THE SUMMER AS WE GO TO OUR SUMMER AAU SEASON.

THIS FUNDING IS REQUESTING BASKETBALLS AND JERSEYS AND LOCKERS FOR THE BASKETBALLS.

WE ENCOURAGE THEM TO UTILIZE OUR ACTIVITIES WHEN THEY'RE ABLE TO AND TO NOT FEEL COMPELLED THAT THEY HAVE TO OR TO MISS, FOR EXAMPLE, RIGHT NOW IN TRACK IN THE HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM.

WE HAVE MOST ALL OF OUR ATHLETES ARE MULTI-SPORT ATHLETES AND ARE PARTICIPATING IN DIFFERENT PROGRAMS, AND WE DO OUR BEST TO TRY TO FIT IN BETWEEN THOSE OTHER ACTIVITIES.

WE'RE NOT PERMITTED INTO THE GYM UNTIL AFTER THE HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ANYWAY, SO WE'RE TYPICALLY RUNNING IN THE EVENINGS.

I GREW UP IN A SMALL TOWN IN WYOMING, AND I WAS VERY GRATEFUL FOR THE OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY LOTS OF SPORTS, THREE SPORTS IN SCHOOL, AND THEN A DIFFERENT ONE IN THE SUMMER, AND I WOULD THINK THAT WOULD BE IDEAL FOR OUR KIDS STILL TODAY.

THE REALITY IS THAT IT'S ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO BE COMPETITIVE FOR SCHOOL PROGRAMS OR FOR KIDS WHO MAYBE WANT TO GO ON TO THE NEXT LEVEL IF THEY AREN'T CONTINUING TO PLAY THAT SPORT SOME IN THE OFF-SEASON.

THAT'S JUST THE REALITY OF THE WAY IT IS.

THERE ARE ATHLETES IN OUR COMMUNITY WHO DO WANT TO PLAY BEYOND THE LIMITED SCHOOL DISTRICT SEASON, WHO MAYBE DO WANT TO GO ON AND PLAY AT THE NEXT LEVEL, AND THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR THEM TO HAVE, WITH THE FIRST PRIORITY BEING SCHOOL, SECOND PRIORITY BEING OTHER SPORTS THAT THEY MAY BE IN THAT SEASON, BUT A THIRD PRIORITY THAT BALANCING THAT STILL HAVING AN OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN THE SPORT IN AN OFF-SEASON.

BUT WE'LL ALSO BE ABLE TO BY EACH STUDENT WHO ATTENDS OUR WORKSHOPS A LITTLE GOODY BAG THAT INCLUDES A SEARCH AND RESCUE MED KIT AND SOME OTHER RELEVANT MATERIALS LIKE WHISTLES, FIRE STARTERS, OCCASIONALLY HEAD LAMPS, WATER BOTTLES, ETC., TO TAKE HOME WITH THEM SO THAT THEY FEEL A LITTLE BIT MORE EQUIPPED TO HEAD INTO THE BACKCOUNTRY AND EMPOWERED TO GET OUT THERE WITHOUT FEELING LIKE THE BARRIERS FOR ENTRY ARE QUITE SO STEEP IN OUR BEAUTIFUL OUTSIDE PLACES.

HELPING KIDDOS UNDERSTAND WHAT TO BRING OUT INTO THE BACKCOUNTRY WHEN THEY'RE HEADED THERE.

ESSENTIALLY JUST HELPING OUR PROGRAMS FEEL REALLY ACCESSIBLE TO ALL OF OUR SCHOOL DISTRICT KIDS.

BUT I REALLY DO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH HAVING TETON COUNTY TAXPAYERS NOT ONLY PAY A LOT OF MONEY TOWARDS A HELICOPTER, BUT ALSO PAY FOR GOODIE BAGS FOR KIDS.

IT'S JUST, TO ME, A WASTE OF MONEY.

THEN WILDERNESS MEDICINE IS ONE CATEGORY.

SWIFT WATER RESCUE IS ONE CATEGORY.

BIKE MAINTENANCE AND BIKE INCIDENCE IS ANOTHER CATEGORY, AND THEN THE MORE HOLISTIC HIKING AND ALL THINGS, WILDERNESS IS ANOTHER.

WHEN I THINK ABOUT HOW MANY KIDS I'M SEEING THROUGH WHOLE FOOD RESCUE SPROUTS AND TETON LITERACY CENTER AND CHILDREN'S MUSEUM AND CRESTS, THOSE KIDS ARE A LOT MORE EXCITED TO MAYBE START LEARNING ABOUT SNOW SCIENCE.
